The most important thing, though, is, that Genesis lags severely with over 1k players online. Also old realm abilities properly included and a general livelike (1.65) classic daoc experience.

No other freeshard has it, because it's completely custom code that isnt included in the standard DoL version that other freeshards use. There's a lot of things working on Uthgard that are not working on other freeshards.

Plus Uthgard, even before shutting down, has been developed and constantly upgraded and updated for almost 10 years. Uthgard devs, compared to Genesis / Origins, took their time properly setting up the server, writing code and fixing things. I guess mostly the first two points are the most important. Instead, expect undead mobs to actually be susceptible to spirit damage on Uthgard Si will come at a point when it is polished. While Genesis has SI, it's pretty much ignored except for 1-2 dungeons per realm, which are poorly implemented (encounter wise).
This may be a good or bad thing for you personally. Uthgard will be really close to what 1.65 was like. They were actually very happy about this. In contrast, the first week I ever played on Uthgard someone told me they had tried to buff bot twice and both times they had been caught and their bot account had been deleted. Genesis has gone through a few PR nightmares regarding cheaters and even disgraced staff that were mishandling their power. It spiked big but then the bugs started surfacing and keep surfacing to this day. Genesis will probably close after Uthgard launches because it will be a ghost town. That will fade a bit but should remain healthy and much higher than Genesis's current population (which is at least 40% buffbots). When Uthgard launches it will have a huge population. So I am here now but want to know why I should wait for Uthgard and not just play Genesis? Could someone please tell me what will be different? WIll there be a bigger population in Uthgard? I had heard about the free shard a while back but never looked into it. I tried the current version of DAOC but it just wasnt fun for me, you hit 50 in a few days and RVR is all about timers, instas, item uses. Currently I am backing Camelot Unchained and waiting for it but its at least a year away, but I am not trying to debate or speculate about that game.Ĭurrently I want something to play.
